Plant of coastal sandbanks where it fixes the sand of the dunes. It forms palisades that stop the advance of the sand.
Rhizomatous perennial plant, with stems between 60 and 120 cm high. The leaves are greyish-green and pointed. The flowers are straw-yellow in colour, gathered in long axis-shaped spikes and bloom from May to July. The fruits form fairly dense panicles.
