PLANTS OF PRICKLY JUNIPER - JUNIPERUS OXYCEDRUS

Valuable conifer for timber, used in reforestation, for hedges or  singular tree. It is planted in oak and pine forests and along coastlines. Its high valued wood is widely used in carpentry and cabinet making. The essential oil extracted to be used in cosmetics and pharmacology. The berries are used to flavor the Gin.

Evergreen conifer that can reach 15m with a thick trunk and a fibrous greyish bark. The leaves are pointed dark-green and the greenish berry-like fruit turns reddish at maturity.

It adapts to any types of soils.

Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
