Monkey Puzzle Tree

Elegant tree whose fruit is edible. Ideal for spacious gardens. A noticeable tree in gardens for its typical and symetric wide branches. It is a symbolic tree in Argentina, seen on the coat of arms of one of its provinces.

Its edible cone pines have a high nutritional intake and contain many carbon hydrates with a high calorific level. It is thought that its resin can cure skin ulcers. Its good-quality wood is compact and light. It is used to make furniture, paper paste and in building trade. 

Evergreen tree reaching 30m of a height with a thick trunk. Dark-green leaves looking like hard and thorny scales. Its oval female pine cones are green turning brown when getting older.

It grows on clay, stony, sandy and well-drained soils. No need to prune.
