Splendid, fragrant climber with medicinal properties. Used for game cover and as groundcover to stop erosion. From its roots, a refreshing drink is obtained. It is a very old and famous drink in the United States and in Europe. Used against flu, gout, rheumatism, skin diseases for its diuretic, aphrodisiac and tonic properties.
Evergreen, thorny climber of 1-2m tall with heart-shaped and reddish leaves. Greenish-yellow flowers, very fragrant. Red berries.
It grows in sandy, light soils from neutral to acid ones.
