Decorative herbaceous for ponds, banks and gardens in maritime areas. The plant is used for waste waters treatment.
Evergreen growing up to 1.5m. Groups of spherical flowers at the end of the very strong stems. The leaves are very pointed.
Prefers humid soils but not flooded ones.
The stems were used to link churros (a Spanish pastry) in the past and also to make wicker baskets. The stems are edible, sweet-tasting. Fast growing. Diseases resistent. For a more compact shape trim at the end of winter.
