Fast growing palm tree. Ornamental, alignement tree, gardens, pot plant. Erosion. Desertification. It is also a useful green filter plant. Hardy (-5ºC).
It grows to 25 m tall. The leaves have a petiole up to 1 m long, and a palmate fan of leaflets up to 1 m long. The inflorescence is up to 3 m long, with numerous small pale orange-pink flowers. The fruit is a spherical, blue-black drupe, 6–8 mm diameter; it is edible, though thin-fleshed.
Light soils from neutral to acid and cool or humid ones. Hardy (-5ºC). Fast growing. Washingtonia robusta is a palm tree native to western Sonora and Baja California Sur to northwestern Mexico.
