Evergreen shrub with palmate, dark shinning green leaves and milky-white flowers in autumn. Very popular houseplant.
It is an evergreen shrub growing to 2m tall, with stout, sparsely branched stems. The leaves are spirally-arranged, large, palmately lobed, with 7-9 broad lobes. The flowers are small, white, borne in dense terminal compound umbels in late autumn or early winter, followed by small black fruit.
Prefers rich, light and slightly moist soils. A delicate species but nevertheless very hardy. It is native to southern Japan.
