PLANTS OF LÚCUMA - POUTERIA LUCUMA

An exotic and valuable tree that will add a unique and special touch to your garden. Native to the Andes, it is highly prized for its fruit, which is used in sweets and ice cream.

An evergreen tree growing up to 15 metres tall with tough, light-coloured bark. Long, elliptical, dark green leaves. Small, greenish-yellow, tubular flowers in clusters.

The fruit is round but pointed at the end and bright green in colour. It weighs around 200 g. The flesh is very sweet and has a characteristic intense yellow colour.

It needs well-drained soil with organic matter.
