Shrub native to Southeast Asia. 2-3m high, thorny and with characteristic, highly aromatic, bilobed evergreen leaves. Striking, intense green fruit with very rough skin and extremely acidic. White blossom.
It needs fertile, loose and well drained soils. Withstands temperatures down to -3ºC.
The leaves and peel of this citrus fruit are widely used in cooking, beverages and cosmetics among others.
Rootstock Macrophylla. (Sensitive to tristeza if grafted on orange trees, but tolerant if grafted on lemon trees. Hybrid widely used nowadays for its fast and good production. Suitable for all types of soil.)
