Formats
The Chinese grapefruit is a tree with leaves that are bright green on the upper side and somewhat hairy on the underside. As fruit, it produces the grapefruit, the largest citrus fruit with a sour and bitter taste. Round or pear-shaped, greenish-yellow, weighing up to 2kg. Very small, fragrant yellowish-white blossom.
Needs sandy, loamy, deep and well drained soils. Warm temperatures as it does not tolerate frost.
Rootstock Macrophylla. (Sensitive to tristeza if grafted on orange trees, but tolerant if grafted on lemon trees. Hybrid widely used nowadays for its fast and good production. Suitable for all types of soil.)
