The Bitter Orange Tree! This fruit tree is a hybrid variety between Citrus maxima and Citrus reticulata, widely used as rootstock. Although it is not suitable for consumption, it has many applications such as in perfumery, medicine, flavouring or for its essential oil. It can also be found in urban tree rows and gardens.
Evergreen, 7-8m, thorny and with fragrant, dark green, shiny, elliptical leaves. Fragrant white flowers with fleshy petals and orange blossom scent. The orange is medium-sized and very bitter-acidic.
