SEEDS OF BOX ELDER - ACER NEGUNDO

Elegant tree perfect for paths, gardens and parks. Fast growing. Honey production. The wood is used in decorative applications, for paper pulp and low-cost furniture. This tree is used in cities for its resistance to urban pollution.

Native to North America this tree can reach 10-15 m in height. Unlike most Maples which usually have palmate leaves this one has pinnate leaves. The flowers are small and appear in early spring on drooping racemes 10-20 cm long.

Adapts to any soil as long as it is sandy and chalky.

Depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to April. To obtain a more regular and faster germination stratify in cold the seeds for 40-90 days before the sowing. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination is completed.
