Clump-forming herbaceous perennial up to 1.5m tall, with strap-shaped leaves leaves that grow in a green rosette. Numerous dark purplish flowers that grow to the end of long large stems. Absolutely showy flowering.
It needs moist, well-drained, and permeable soils to grow and prefers mild, warm climates.
