Prefers well-drained, basic and fresh soils.
Used in traditional Chinese medicine to reduce fever, against infections and haemorrhage.
It needs regular watering and a more abundant one if it is planted open-ground. It does not tolerate transplantation. Sensible to phid, red spider, grey caterpillar infestations… and other diseases such as chlorosis and virosis among others.
