The plant from which Tonburi comes. The dried seeds can be eaten and are a must in Japanese cooking called ‘tonburi’. The texture is similar to caviar. In natural medicine the seeds are also used to prevent hypertension, obesity and arterioscleriosis. The plant is used as forage for livestock, for erosion control, and as an ornamental plant. Phytoremediation plant.
Annual plant growing up to 2m with green lanceolate leaves. The leaves become orange, red or violet at the end of the summer. Yellow flowers. It adapts to any type of soils.
