PLANTS OF LEMON VERBENA - ALOYSIA CITRODORA

Cultivated in the garden and the orchard as an aromatic and medicinal plant for its leaves. Pot plant. For its fragrance this plant has been used in perfumery, cosmetics and pastries. It is also used in infusions called verbena tea.

Shrub up to 2 m whose rough leaves give off a strong smell of lemon. Lilac flowers.

Water frequently in summer and little in winter. Remove withered leaves and flowers. It prefers a sunnyplace even with direct light, however it has a good behavior in semi-shade or shade.

Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
