SEEDS OF SPANISH FIR - ABIES PINSAPO

This elegant Fir considered as The Andalusian National Tree is used as Christmas tree. It is native from the South of Spain more precisely from the Mountains of Malaga and Cádiz. Most of the Spanish Fir plantations or forests in Spain are to be found in protected areas.

Evergreen tree growing up to 30 m high with a conic crown. The male flowers are purple and become brown at maturity. The female flowers are the cones and are situated at the top of the crown. Blue-grey leaves.

Depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to April. To obtain a more regular and faster germination stratify in cold the seeds for 21 days before the sowing.
