White Fir a is popular Christmas tree for its fragrance. Sturdy and elegant it is used as an ornemental tree in big parks and gardens. Also used for reforestation. Grouse like to eat the buds and needles of this Fir. Squirrels and rodents eat the seeds. The deer likes to rub down in the bark.

Evergreen tree growing up to 25-40 m. Blue-green or grey-green, fragrant leaves. This fir tree likes chilly and wet soils.

Depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to April. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination. To manage to have a more regular and faster germination cold stratify the seeds for 30-40 days before the sowing.
